Parts of Human Body that are helped by Vitamins
A healthy immune system is essential if we are to maintain our short and long term health. A number of nutrients/vitamins, including the minerals zinc and selenium, and vitamins A, C and E, have been identified as playing a specific role in maintaining the immune system. A diet rich in fruit and vegetables and whole-grains is the best source of antioxidant nutrients.
Good nutrition is also important for healthy joint function. Antioxidants such as selenium and vitamins A, C and E are important as are the essential fatty acids found in fish oils. A naturally occurring substance - glucosamine sulphate - has also been shown to be helpful in maintaining healthy joints and cartilage in particular.
Good nutrition is obviously important if we are to maximise our energy levels. However, less well known is that nutrients like the mineral magnesium, B vitamins and coenzyme Q10 are all vitally important to enable the body to release energy efficiently.
Good nutrition is also of vital importance to the health of eyes, hair, skin and nails - these are the first areas to suffer when we are feeling under the weather. A diet rich in antioxidants is particularly important for healthy skin and hair.
